A bright, white smile says a lot about you. Unfortunately age, tobacco use and staining from certain foods and dark beverages can leave you wanting a brighter, whiter smile.

Tooth polishing during your twice a year regular dental cleaning can help remove some minor surface stains but if you want the kind of bright smile you had in your youth, you might need to turn to tooth whitening products or procedures.

It’s a good idea to talk to your dentist before starting any tooth whitening regimen.

Tooth whitening toothpaste is one of the more common options people choose to help reduce the appearance of minor surface stains. While this is the initial approach it might not always be the most effective, especially if you have moderate to severe staining.

If your teeth have moderate staining you might want to try teeth whitening strips or a bleaching gel. These products can be used at home. Strips are applied directly to teeth, while gel is poured into a tray. After the treatment the gel must be removed from the gum line with moist cotton swabs.

The concentration of these bleaching products is stronger than whitening toothpaste, but not as strong as what is available to you at the dentist.

For teeth with deeper staining issues, we also offer in-office tooth bleaching procedure. This is the most effective way to remove stains. The teeth are then bleached. Sometimes we will also use a laser light to help enhance the process.
